ABOUT JULIE SIMONE
Julie Simone is a director and filmmaker who appears as herself in Cannes Without a Plan. She is best known for co-writing and directing Fiddlin’, an acclaimed music documentary that topped the iTunes charts and won over 25 festival awards. Born in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, she developed a deep love for storytelling and performance, which led her from New York City to Los Angeles to pursue acting and filmmaking. Julie is now shifting gears into the narrative world, actively developing several TV and film projects with her writing partner.
ABOUT JEFF KANEW
Jeff Kanew edited Cannes Without a Plan. He is an acclaimed editor and director with a career spanning decades. He has created trailers for over 500 legendary films, including The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, Rocky, Annie Hall, and On Golden Pond. Kanew also edited Ordinary People, Robert Redford’s Oscar-winning directorial debut. As a director, he is best known for the cult classic Revenge of the Nerds, as well as Tough Guys, Troop Beverly Hills, and V.I. Warshawski. His extensive career includes directing in film, television, and theater.
ABOUT JODIE FISHER
Jodie Fisher is an actress who appears as herself in Cannes Without a Plan. Raised in Dallas, Texas, she graduated from Texas Tech University before an unexpected audition launched her acting career. She has appeared in dozens of films and TV series, including a guest role on NCIS: Los Angeles and on the reality TV show Age of Love. Jodie, who instigated the spontaneous trip to Cannes, has also mentored women recovering from addiction and is a sought-after motivational speaker. She is currently developing S.O.B.E.R., a new series about five friends in recovery.
ABOUT HAYLEY MORTISON
Hayley Mortison is a Canadian-American actress, writer, and business owner who appears as herself in Cannes Without a Plan. A former Ford model, she traveled the world before landing in Los Angeles, where she appeared in Vegas Vacation and worked on the sitcom Mom. She also created the apparel company Sober is Sexy and founded Hayley’s House, a mentorship program for women in recovery. Stand-up comedy remains a dream — never say never!
